We will be hosting Project Home again during the month of March, and we need your help welcoming families for the night! Project Home provides overnight shelter for families who are temporarily without housing when the Family Service Center Shelter in Maplewood is at capacity. Woodland Hills has been honored to act as a Project Home site over the years.

We will need volunteers for two different shifts. The first volunteer shift is from 5:30-8:30pm, and the second volunteer shift is overnight from 8:30pm-8:30am. If you are interested in volunteering please sign up for one of the required trainings. Training dates are Saturday, February 18 from 3:30-4:30pm and Wednesday, February 22 from 7-8pm.

You can stop by the Info Table to learn more, and to sign up for training and volunteer shifts. You can also contact Anita at 651-287-2065 or ahart@whchurch.org.

Please note: Trainings are required if you haven’t volunteered with Project Home before.

In 2010, we were hosting Project Home when we found out that the permit we’d obtained didn’t allow for homeless parents and children to spend a month sleeping here. We felt strongly about reaching out to our local community and continuing our partnership with Project Home, so in November 2010, we applied for a permit revision from the city of Maplewood that would allow us to act as a Project Home host site again. This revision was granted!

Read more about the process of getting the permit revision in an article from a local paper.
