Update: Between August 21-29, we collected around 8,000 pounds of food! Thanks to everyone who donated!
————————————
Each week, the food shelf at Woodland Hills gives out around 400 lbs of food to 10-15 families. These families are usually struggling with unemployment, underemployment, health issues or the disease of addiction. Some days, getting food from us is the only reason they don’t go hungry. The gift of food is one way we are able to minister to these folks in our community and it is only because of the generosity of our church body during our food drives that we are able to do so.
This year has been especially busy at our food shelf, mostly due to the economic downturns in our community. In the past, we’ve only needed two food drives a year to keep it stocked. Due to the increased demand, this year we plan to have four.
Our next food drive is on August 21-22 and 28-29. A list of items needed is below and you can simply drop off bags of food at church those weekends.
Thanks to all who have and continue to support our food shelf!
