Online Giving FAQ

I currently donate via Direct Giving (ACH). How do I convert to Online Giving?

Is online giving secure?
Yes, all account information you enter is secure. No one has access to your data unless authorized by you.

Are there any hidden charges or fees?
No. You select the dollar amount for your gift. That is the dollar amount that will be recognized as your donation. No costs or fees.

What is a contribution schedule?
This is similar to a subscription. You can choose how often you would like an automatic donation to be made – one-time, weekly, every two weeks or monthly.

Why do I have to set up an account and password?
Setting up an account with a password allows you to enter the secure area of the web site for your transaction. Once your account and password are established, all of your personal information (including account numbers) is safe and protected.

Can I designate my gift to a particular department or ministry?
Every dollar given to our General Fund is used to support the overall mission of the church; therefore, gifts cannot be designated or restricted for use by a specific department or ministry. This is true for any kind of donation to the church, not just online giving. However, from time to time we create special funds like Growing in the Spirit or Making Space, which support projects that are not covered by our General Fund. You can also make contributions to these funds through our online giving system.

What is the Growing in the Spirit fund?
Growing in the Spirit (GITS) was a campaign to raise money to partner with outside ministries, finish two stages of renovations to the North Wing and pay off the mortgage on our building. We’ve fulfilled our commitments to our partner ministries and completed the first stage of building renovations. Our current priority is to continue making early payments on our mortgage to save money in interest.

What is the Making Space fund?
Making Space is a recurring campaign to raise money and care for people in our midst by supporting organizations that serve our community, often through the donated use of our facilities. We usually run Making Space around Christmas and encourage our congregation to spend a little less on gifts, and instead help others by supporting the goals of that year’s campaign.

Can I post a reoccurring donation to more than one fund?
Yes. You just create more than one contribution schedule – one for each fund.

When is the contribution charged to my checking account or credit card?
Transactions usually take 2-3 business days, so contributions scheduled on Friday through Sunday may not show up on your account until early the following week.

What if I want to change my online giving or stop it?
At any time you can log into the system with your account name and password and make changes. From the online giving window, scroll down to the contribution schedule. Select the green edit button to make a change or the blue button to delete.

If I sign up to give online are you going to email me all the time?
No! We won’t bury you with unwanted email or pester you to give more. We may email you VERY periodically, but you can opt out of those messages at any time.
