Many of us as Christians struggle with a disparity between “head versus heart” knowledge regarding God’s love. In other words, we can have difficulty feeling or truly believing the love God has for us despite the cognitive understanding of it that we have from Scripture or religious teaching. This struggle can partly stem from distortions in our God Image.
Using concepts from the fields of psychology and environmental science, this class will expand on what God Image is, how it develops in individuals, and how to create emotional attachment to God with our spiritual practices. The presenters will provide some hope-filled, practical ideas and discussion on how to facilitate a healthier image of God (i.e., alignment of head and heart knowledge) in ourselves and in our children.
