Spiritual Friendships

Start Date: Sep 21, 2020

As humans, we were created to be known by others. We all want to belong and it feels good to know that we have people who care about us. Many of us live much of our lives trying to fit in, attract acceptance, and experience intimacy. We need to get in the practice of paying attention to the craving we have for belonging, listen to it, and learn how to fulfill it. The bottom line is, we need friends! And not only that, we need spiritual friends to help us in our commitment to follow Jesus. But what do spiritual friends do? What practices shape a spiritual friendship? Join us for a 5 week pilot class where we will explore together what it means to be a part of a life-giving spiritual friendship.

Monday nights, 7:30-8:30pm CT

Class Format: Online via Zoom
Duration: 5 weeks
Instructor(s): Shawna Boren, Paul Eddy, Rob Kistler

Shawna is the Engagement Pastor here at Woodland Hills. She previously served in various pastoral staff roles for over 20 years in both Texas and Minnesota. Shawna is married to Scott, and is mom to Deklan, Gavin, Jensen, and Afton. She loves her role at Woodland, and is passionate about helping people find their place of belonging.

Paul is a Teaching Pastor here at Woodland Hills, where he also serves on the Executive Pastoral team. Paul also teaches Bible and Theology at Bethel University. He lives in White Bear Township with his wife Kelly and their two boys.

Rob has been our Care Pastor at Woodland Hills for 10 years. He has a heart to see Kingdom people love and relate to one another well. He met his wife at Woodland (isn’t that adorable) and they live on the East Side of St. Paul with their sweet Bully dog Eva.

"We just started attending last summer and we love it! This past weekend the music was so beautiful, I felt the Holy Spirit there and wept the entire time. And then the message on relationships spoke right to my own struggles. God is here."
