SOMA

SOMA is still accepting applications for fall of 2020! Read on to learn more and apply.

Due to COVID-19, we are limiting the size of the school to allow for SOMA to be one “social bubble” community for the year.

Greetings! Thank you for your interest in SOMA, our School of Missional Apprenticeship!

SOMA is an intensive discipleship school where people’s hearts, minds, values, and lifestyles are deeply shaped and formed into the likeness of Jesus in an intimate and vibrant community setting. Our vision for SOMA is to equip followers of Jesus to join or form local, small-scale missional discipleship communities (MDC’s) that tangibly manifest Jesus’ beautiful Kingdom among their neighborhoods and around the world!

Seminary for Everybody

Historically, those who felt a special calling to ministry or missions often pursued specialized training in “seminary.” But who said that ministry and missions were special callings for only a few people? That’s not in the Bible! Our belief is that all Christians are called to be ministers to each other within the church family, and to be servant missionaries to others outside the church family.

But in order to fulfill this calling, followers of Jesus need a Seminary for Everybody, a school where they can become formed more into the character of Jesus and be equipped to serve within and outside the Body of Christ.  SOMA is our Seminary for Everybody … a place where everyday ministers and missionaries can become healed, formed, and equipped for a lifetime of service.

We launched SOMA in September of 2018, and have had students of all ages from literally all over the U. S. and Canada. SOMA is a full-time, 9-month residential discipleship training program. Participants live and learn in community, and serve and share the Good News missionally in an urban setting. SOMA is not merely an opportunity to receive some life-changing discipleship training for 9-months. It is an invitation to live out missional discipleship community well beyond the 9-month training!

About Missional Discipleship Communities

testimonial-icon

"We have been podrishioners for several months. Our daughter, son-in-law and grandkids moved back to California after living in MN for 10 years. They attended Woodland Hills for about a year before they moved. Now we all go to the beach together on Thursdays, come home and have dinner together, then we watch last Sunday’s sermon together. It is a special day for our family."
