Theology & Values

Aspen/SOMA Theological Convictions
  1. We believe that the essence of God is agape love in triune community (Father, Son, Spirit),
  2. that the Bible is God’s inspired, trustworthy and therefore authoritative revelation about who he is, who we are, and what he is up to in the world,
  3. that Jesus is God-incarnate who perfectly reflects the character and heart of God and whose birth, life, death, resurrection and ascension to the throne has defeated Satan’s power, frees us from sin, heals and reconciles us to relationship with God and each other, and restores us to our own created dignity and mission as God’s image on earth,
  4. that those who bow their knee to Jesus as King and enter into the New Covenant family of God through new birth receive a new heart through God’s indwelling Spirit and are intimately reunited with God and empowered for transformation and obedience, and are given gifts for ministry within the church and for mission to the world.
  5. We believe in the present Kingdom manifested through the community of Jesus living out the ways of Jesus among and for the sake of the nations,
  6. and in the coming fullness of the reign of Jesus on earth at the return of Jesus and the resurrection of the dead and the restoration of creation.
