Loving children with God’s love is vital to helping them experience their identity as children of their heavenly Father. The children coming to Camp Penuel are from impoverished areas and they learn about the love of Jesus Christ and how the Lord helps to bring solutions to problems they may be facing in their lives.
Since the opening of Camp Penuel in 2006, about 750 children come each year to see the face of the Lord, as Jacob saw in Genesis 32:30. While at camp, they:
- develop meaningful relationships with other children, staff, counselors and mission teams
- participate in many activities such as swimming, games, crafts
- see the face of God through closer contact with his creation and through the power of the gospel ministered by the loving staff in chapel times and throughout the days
Mission groups usually stay for one week and serve under the directors of the Camp, Paul and Thelma Bernhagen. Oftentimes the mission experience is combined with vacation time to experience the beauty of Costa Rica. Please visit our website or our Facebook page for more information.
