Our First Virtual Prayer Meeting!

Posted on

Sunday evening, Woodland held its first ever virtual prayer meeting! We were energized by the thirty people who tuned in, including a few out-of-state podrishioners!

Greg started us off with encouragement to pray for the most vulnerable among us and then we moved into digital breakout rooms in groups of seven to eight. In these smaller spaces, each person checked in briefly about how they were doing personally, and then the groups transitioned into prayer.

When we all joined back up, Osheta closed out our time with a reflection. She showed us a picture of her kitchen where a banner that proclaims “Remember” hangs above the sink. She encouraged us to use the many times of day we are all washing our hands to reflect on and remember the good things God has done for us—maybe we, too, could hang a “Remember” banner above our sinks!

Although our session together was less than an hour, this time of prayer was powerful and uplifting, especially to those in need of community and living alone. It reminded us once again of the spiritual reality of our unity! As we listen to God and each other, we’re participating in the Kingdom and reflecting God’s love.

Woodland plans to hold another prayer gathering, but exact details are still in the works, so be on the lookout for more information!

"My counselor zeroed in on the root causes of my anxiety, explaining the mechanisms of why I was feeling the way I was, and what to do about it. She was very loving and compassionate and approached my situation with a technical mindset as well. A very rare combination."
