Project Home Craft Night

“Baby it’s cold outside” is not just a refrain for Christmastime; it’s especially accurate lately! And there’s nothing that combats the cold like a warm place to rest and an incredibly cozy blanket.

Here at Woodland, we combat the cold and worry for our friends experiencing homelessness by offering a warm place to rest through Project Home. This March and April, we will again provide overnight shelter for families who are temporarily without housing. It’s been an honor to act as a Project Home site over the years and host families who otherwise have no place to stay.

And we want to offer cozy, practical hospitality for our Project Home guests by making them fleece blankets! We’ll work on them at Wednesday Together on February 13 starting at 6:30pm. We’ll have all the supplies; we just need helping hands.

Every year we hear from families that they feel very cared for at Woodland. That’s because we treat them like esteemed guests in our home. Our volunteers help with some food preparation and a small amount of administration, but they mostly connect and build relationships with the families that stay with us. You can learn more about volunteering as a Project Home Host here.

And plan to come to our Outreach Craft Night on the 13th! It’ll be a fun night.

What a terrific idea-blankets to make and give! I’d be there to help if I wasn’t in northern Minnesota. God bless your work and love Project Home.

I have parent teacher conferences that night, but I’d still like to help. Could I pick up materials this Sunday and then return the blanket next week? This is great weather for crafting something in the evenings!

Sorry Esther, we didn’t have the supplies ready by this last Sunday. If you’re still interested in working on a blanket at home, feel free to email Osheta at omoore@whchurch.org. She’s heading up the project and will know more. Thanks for your willingness to help!

"Thank you for this ministry! It has transformed my life in some really radical ways. God has broken down so many barriers and exposed so many lies that have taken some serious burdens from my heart. It has given me hope, freedom and purpose I never could have imagined possible."

– Jenny, from Wisconsin
