Vessels Goes Volunteering

Posted on

Maddy is a member of Vessels, our Young Adults group, and she recently put together a team to volunteer with Feed My Starving Children, an organization dedicated to ending childhood hunger.

Maddy says, “I had served at Feed My Starving Children a few times as a kid, and thought it would be a great place to bring the Vessels team to. The energy there is so uplifting, and the FMSC program really knows how to make serving fun. They have an amazing team of people who are filled with spirit and clearly love God and helping others.”

Jumping into the assembly line, the Vessels team measured and scooped food, sealed and weighed bags, and packed up boxes for shipping. Their challenge was to see how many boxes they could complete in one hour. By the end of the evening, the Vessels crew and other volunteers packed a total of 107 boxes with 23,112 meals inside— enough to feed 63 children a daily meal for a year!

Following cleanup, the group gathered around the boxes to send them off in prayer. Maddy says, “We had a great time, and we are on the lookout for more serving opportunities!”

The next Vessels event is tubing at Green Acres on Friday, January 16—email Daniel at dchurchill@whchurch.org to sign up!

"Thank you all the way from Oregon. I deeply appreciate being shepherded by Pastor Greg and everyone else on the panels. You are a rare find in the church nowadays. Tackling tough questions with humility and a kingdom perspective. It has been life changing for me in such tumultuous times."
