In the game of Freeze Tag, when a person is touched by a member of the opposite team, he or she is “frozen” and cannot move. The only way to be set free is to have a member of your own team touch you. It is similar with the soul. When we are “touched” in some traumatic way, we become frozen. When the soul is touched in a way that God never meant it to be touched

It is similar with the soul. When we are “touched” in some traumatic way, we become frozen. When the soul is touched in a way that God never meant it to be touched (sexual abuse, abandonment, etc.), we stop growing in that area of our life. The only way to be set free again is to be touched by Jesus Christ.
The body is another analogy that works. When the body is severely injured, it goes into a state of shock. So also with the soul.
What heals us is to hear God say what he said in Jeremiah 31, “I have loved you with an everlasting love.” To know that God loved us back in those difficult times helps us today.
