For the length of our “Love Is” series, we ran special clubs committed to learning to love together through in-person connection and sermon discussions on 1 Corinthians 13. These men’s and women’s clubs met in the Gathering Area, Sundays at 9, for (in Pastor Shawna Boren’s words) “coffee, discussion, nibbles and giggles.” With a short-term commitment and no prep other than listening to the sermon, the clubs are an easy way to create new friendships!
Ruth Ann shares what the women’s club meant to her:
In a large church, getting to know others can be challenging, especially when you aren’t doing a lot in-person. This format gives another in-person touchpoint to get to know a few others. I’m in a Gathering Group of both men and women, and I like having both opportunities, but I enjoyed the smaller size and makeup of a women’s group and found that the topics we discussed were more appealing.
I also liked the multigenerational makeup of the group, with older and younger each bringing a unique perspective. We discussed not only theology and facts but also how to apply what we learned to our everyday lives. I’ve appreciated the wisdom and openness of these women and hope to chat more with them apart from the group.
Thanks to Ruth Ann and all who joined. If you missed out on this round, don’t worry, the clubs will be back for the next Wholehearted subseries in 2026!
