Election Eve: Keeping Perspective

Posted on

This was a post to announce our Election Eve service. If you’d like to watch or listen to the recording, you can find that here.

— —

As we approach the November election, many of us are experiencing a wide range of emotions—things like fear, anxiety and frustration.

It can be easy to lose perspective, so on Monday, November 4 at 7pm we will hold a special “Election Eve” service about keeping our eyes fixed on King Jesus and his Kingdom, no matter the outcome of the election. We want to remember who we belong to, where our citizenship is, and that our real hope is in Jesus—not in any particular candidate, political party or government.

We hope you’ll join us in person if you can! The service will also be live-streamed right here for anyone outside the Twin Cities.

Don’t you think it would be right to publicly speak against the false gospels of the NAR and MAGA ideological Christianity? Father Coughlin, I know you’re familiar with him. Would you have stood against him as he used the Bible to foment Nazism in America, like Bohoeffer stood against the Deutsche Christen movement in Germany? Or would you have hunkered down among your sheep and waited it out? That’s my question for your vlog.

I’m sorry for being so forceful, but I just don’t understand why you think you can just pull back and make the assumption that God might want MAGA – and its gospel – to take control of this country. I don’t see the equivocation – in the Word or in the possible outcome for 300 million Americans

I’m not sure you’ll receive this; you have a gatekeeper now. If you don’t, let the gatekeeper be accountable.

      Hi Mike,
Here is a response from Greg.

Thanks for your thoughtful question Mike.
I have no problem denouncing any form of Christian Nationalism. It is theological heresy. And I have trouble doing this with those on the right and on the left who equate their political ideologies with their faith. But while its likely most in the MAGA crowd believe God is on “their side,” this much is also true for many on the left, as it has been for most political groups throughout history. I thus don’t feel it’s my place to specifically critique the MAGA movement on a theological basis.

      Peace, Greg

Thank you for this service. I have been attending your church since the early 2000’s . We have since moved out of state but I always come back to Woodland Hills online when I need a safe church experience. I appreciate you all. Blessings from Oregon.

Which is NOT even on the FAKE NEWS page you sent me!

      1. Emily says:

        Hi Jerry,
The comments are different because these are two separate pages. Your comments are on the event announcement page (this one), and Heather’s is on the sermon page. It was little confusing, though, because initially both linked to the YouTube video. Hope that clears it up!

  2. Elyssa Renze says:

    Will there be childcare available?

    1. Emily says:

      Hi Elyssa,
Unfortunately we will not have childcare. If you are unable to join in person, we will be streaming on YouTube, if that helps!

  3. Sarah says:

The certainty of election results have been announced. How will you respond, Greg, and how quickly will Reknew.org and Woodlands Hills respond?

    1. Jerry says:

No sure what you mean. They have responded.

Analytical social parameters [ethnic diversity] or critical truth [ἐκκλησία]?

Is [preserving the hologram] the MAP climate change and the plight of whales and elephants or reuniting fallen spirits with the actual material the TERRITORY in Heaven the most urgent analytical or critical thinking path?

It’s a matter of meeting/coming along side folks where they are at.

If Iain Mcgilchrist gets it right and we are now the most physically, more stuff, [left] hemisphere connected and yet spiritually [right] hemisphere isolated people who have ever walked the planet, a schizophrenic culture, then depending where these masses land determines your priority starting point however subject to change.

"My counselor zeroed in on the root causes of my anxiety, explaining the mechanisms of why I was feeling the way I was, and what to do about it. She was very loving and compassionate and approached my situation with a technical mindset as well. A very rare combination."
