Construction of this first home enabled Settled to reach many of their goals: successfully using volunteer labor, achieving safety certification, meeting Minnesota climate insulation standards, sticking to their budget and creating a manual for future construction teams to use. This year, 15 Congolese families bracing for their first sub-freezing weather came to our partner organization, Voice in the Wilderness, with a request: “We hear it’s going to be cold, and we’re a little nervous. Can you help us?” In response, we teamed up to host their first ever coat drive, and together we gathered enough winter gear to help these families brave the cold. Thanks for your support!

It’s back to school time! However, many parents are unable to provide the basic school supplies their children need, and schools across the country are facing severe budget cuts, resulting in lack of funds to purchase necessary supplies. We’re happy to be partnering with Merrick, The Lift, and Voice in the Wilderness to help these families start the school year off with confidence, through purchasing backpacks filled with supplies.
