God created the world, and every human being in it, for the purpose of glorifying Himself. The end goal of everything in creation is to show off God’s love and creativity.

Obviously, such an attitude of self-focus would be inappropriate for a mere human being. But God is different. Being infinite love and beauty, its right that God should admire Himself. What more beautiful thing could He find anywhere to gaze upon? There is nothing in the universe as wonderful to behold as Him.

We were created to mirror His love and beauty. The believer mirrors another of God’s traits as well: His grace. We benefit from this relationship in that we receive eternal life, but the reason we exist is to glorify God. Knowing our purpose can set us free from striving to somehow create meaning in our lives.

The unbeliever, however, will reflect a different aspect of God: His justice.

"I have found, in you, a place where the preached word profoundly resonates with my own recent journey of faith and has cemented a new way of thinking, I suppose like jigsaw pieces falling into place. I am grateful that a friend pointed me in your direction."
