Skills for Bridging the Divide

Posted on

Over MLK weekend, we talked about being “Forces of Light” — recognizing that no human is ever our enemy but rather our struggle is against the forces of darkness.

Braver Angels is one organization putting this into practice by helping people bridge political divides in our polarized country. This year’s Learn-a-thon includes the option of a Braver Angels workshop called “Skills for Bridging the Divide.” This 40 minute online class teaches skills for having better conversations across political differences.

As a bonus, Bill Doherty will host a live follow-up conversation on Zoom for our congregation (and podgregation!) on Monday, February 28 from 6:30-8pm Central. Bill, a WH attendee, has participated as a speaker and panelist during our Sunday services and is one of the co-founders of Braver Angels.

The online course—available as an exclusive link—you can watch on your own time at any point during February, and is a pre-requisite to the Zoom call with Bill. Please register here for the follow-up Zoom conversation, and to receive the special link to the e-class.

This is a great way to contribute to the Learn-a-thon and to practice being people who walk in the light!

"We have been podrishioners for several months. Our daughter, son-in-law and grandkids moved back to California after living in MN for 10 years. They attended Woodland Hills for about a year before they moved. Now we all go to the beach together on Thursdays, come home and have dinner together, then we watch last Sunday’s sermon together. It is a special day for our family."
