Wednesday Together Recap

Posted on

By Paige K Slighter

Last week 175 friends and family kicked off Wednesday Together with tacos, queso and cupcakes. Each table asked icebreaker questions like, “If you could be famous, what would you be famous for?” and “What song do you know every word to?” It was an awesome time to connect and be together as a church family.

Afterwards, we split off into our different classes and groups to meet new people, dig deeper in faith, grow in Biblical knowledge, connect through prayer and walk deeper in God’s love.

Echo, our ministry for 7th-12th graders, had an energetic kickoff with around 130 kids, including a ton of new faces. Echo’s leadership heard from a new 7th grader who was super excited to join after waiting two years to be in Echo. Another student shared that she had been nervous to come, but left feeling excited to come back.

After one of our Cultivate classes, a couple introduced themselves and said they started attending Woodland a few months back during the sermon series on science and faith. They said it was so refreshing to find a church that dealt with meaty topics in an understandable and practical way. Woodland is now their home church and attending Wednesday Together with their kids was their first step of involvement beyond weekend services. They are so thankful for the full family experience on Wednesday nights.

Wednesday Together has something for everyone. It’s a special time to take a break from the busyness of life, recharge and connect in more intimate ways that aren’t always available during the larger gathering on the weekend. One woman described Wednesday Together like this, “I feel like coming tonight made the church feel like a smaller church.”

If you missed last week, don’t worry! Every Wednesday is a great opportunity to get involved. You can join at any time and we’ll get you plugged in.

If you’re looking to join us for a meal, come October 16th for our Celebration Dinner. During this event, we’ll take a break from regular programing and stay together after dinner for worship, games and dessert. We do not have a meal every Wednesday, so this is a special opportunity for fellowship with the larger group. We hope to see you there!

"It's been so supportive to have a journey group leader since 7th grade that I have made a lasting relationship with for 6 years. She has helped me grow in my faith and has been there to check in!"
