The Gift of a Good Meal

Why the party hats, you ask? At the end of March, Woodland will celebrate one year of running the food shelf in our building when Merrick Community Services realized they wouldn’t have the capacity during COVID. After crunching the numbers, our figures show that we’ve served roughly 64,960 meals to families facing food scarcity. Read More 


Acts of Salt and Light

We have a happy update on our blanket and mask donations for the Maplewood family shelter. We were aiming for 35-40 blankets and 100 masks, but ended up with around 200 blankets and over 250 masks! Thank you to everyone who participated! Read More 


Food Shelf Update

The Coronavirus has left many around the world struggling with food insecurity, and Minnesota is no exception: our food shelves have seen a spike in families and individuals needing assistance. For some, it’s their first time receiving this kind of help due to the rise in unemployment. In an article for KARE 11, Second Harvest Food Bank predicted a growing surge in hunger for Minnesota. They estimated that, “by August, more than one in eight people will be struggling to put meals on the table.” Hunger Solutions, another anti-hunger organization, believes that for many, food shelf visits have become “the ‘new normal.’” Read More 


Cereal Box Love

A couple months ago, we put out the call asking for cereal donations to include in the Food Shelf’s “To Go” boxes, providing food for local families in need. The Naidl family heard this call and rallied together their community to provide 149 boxes of cereal. We are so thankful for their hard work and enthusiasm, and the same goes for everyone else who chipped in. As a church, we collected 300 boxes of delicious, and sometimes nutritious, cereal. Food Shelf Update

Woodland Hills employees have stepped in to keep a food shelf running at our church by stocking shelves, packaging food and handing out boxes curbside. And the food shelf is busier than ever as we serve the our community. Read More 


Calling all Mask-Makers

The CDC now recommends face coverings to help slow the spread of the Coronavirus. Please consider helping us provide homemade sewn masks to our partner ministries. Some people who are served by these organizations don’t have access to sewing machines, but we know many in our congregation do! Read More

Sunday Prayer Online

If you have a prayer request after our streamed Sunday service, you can meet with someone from our prayer team using an online video conferencing platform. Read More 


Loving Our Neighbors

Though we’re unable to hold events or weekend services at Woodland, we’re still doing everything we can to support those in need. We’ve been working closely with our partner organizations to make sure families have childcare and are well fed. Read More
