North Wing Update

Posted on

Last winter during our Making Space campaign, we raised money to renovate the the North Wing of our building. It’s been closed for several years while we resolved some moisture issues, but we’re excited to be nearly finished with the interior renovations!

We’ve been working on it since early spring and while there have been a number of frustrating delays, those will soon be a thing of the past. The last hurdle is working through some final flooring details. Hopefully in the next few weeks we’ll be able to start using the North Wing for both our ministries, and sharing it with the non-profits that we host in our building.

Part of our initial plan for the North Wing was to wrap the exterior of the building with metal to prevent any moisture from coming in through the outside walls. However, costs for that came in significantly higher than initial estimates. We felt our wisest course of action was to do more research, since whatever we do on the North Wing will be our long-term plan for the entire building. We consulted with some experts, and now have other options to consider. It will take some time to sort those out, but in the meantime we have advice for how to protect the building from water until final decisions have been made.

The good news is that the North Wing will be opening soon, and we’re confident that we won’t have water issues. We can’t wait to invite everyone down to walk through the rooms and see what we’ve been up to!

Until then, here are some photos of the renovation work so far:

"My almost-three-year-old asks every day if we can go to church. Thank you, Woodland Hills, and all the Heroes Gate volunteers for creating such a great environment for kids. My husband and I met at WH six years ago and now our son counts down the days until we get to go again. My heart could burst."
