Jesus knew He would not be physically present for the development of the church. So, He authorized the Apostles’ writings to have the same authority as His own teachings (John 17:20). This was to give guidance for the church’s development.
To pledge ourselves to God’s word, we must go against the beliefs of our society. Moral relativism and other ideas currently popular now undermine the authority of the Bible.
