Summer Q&A, Part 3

• Greg Boyd, Paul Eddy

During our weekend services on August 11-12 we hosted Q&A sessions with Greg Boyd, our Senior Pastor, and Paul Eddy, our Teaching Pastor. If you’d like to listen to all the questions, note that there are separate downloads for the three different services. [This is the recording of the Saturday service.]

  1. Could you show how it was God’s withdrawal of protection instead of him acting when it comes to the flood?
  2. The explanation of the Old Testament being a shadow of the New Testament made sense. But if God had all of that planned out ahead of time, how does that fit with the idea of openness? Also, why not just read the New Testament then if it’s a way more accurate picture of God?
  3. Is there a Christian view of being angry that is not sinful?
  4. Why do men have a problem with women in authority?
  5. Is it true that the discovery of the Higgs Boson particle, also known as the “God Particle”, demonstrates that we no longer need to appeal to God to explain the universe?
  6. Paul, you said before that you and Greg differ on the whole issue of open theism. So where is it that you fall on that issue?
  7. We spend a lot of time on the love of God. Why don’t we hear more about his wrath?
  8. Why are Christians so quick to give credit to God for answering prayers, but never blame him for the bad things that happen?
  9. How do so many people in the world, who seem to be honestly seeking the truth, end up involved in so many different religions?
