    A friend just introduced me to Greg Boyd the other day and I’ve watched a few of his messages. This message from 2004 could just as easily be given today with the title “Let’s Make America Great Again?” I found myself cheering a few times as Greg was speaking and pointing us to Christ.

    Key topic: The basic distinction we need to learn as Christians who live “in the world but not of the world” is this: we live in the Kingdom of Darkness but serve the Kingdom of God.

    Sermon key points:

    The kingdom of this world is not all bad. The orderly structures of this world are designed to uphold justice and right behavior, and this is a good and necessary thing in a world where God is not universally accepted as Lord and obeyed.

    We need to be suspicious of any attempts of others or ourselves to try to gain power over others. This is not the way the Kingdom works. It is how the kingdom of darkness operates.

    We have only one command, love God first and love our neighbors as ourselves. These are our marching orders and our enemy is clear: it is the kingdom of Darkness and its ruler, not any other human being or human organization (Democrats, Republicans, gay rights activists, CEOs, abortion doctors, protesters, etc.). When we do this, we will be dying for our enemies, not rejoicing over their destruction at our hands.

    Freud’s nephew, Edward Bernays came to America with Freud’s ideas stating how the Nazis manipulated people in wartime business owners and politicians could do in peacetime and coined this as “public relations”.

    From his book ‘Propaganda’:
    The conscious and intelligent manipulation of the organized habits and opinions of the masses is an important element in a democratic society. Those who manipulate the unseen mechanism of society constitute [an invisible government] which is the true power of the country.     Might is be that [the military-industrial complex] was this invisible government and this last election was NOT about trying to ALTER but ABOLISH it and try something different.
