Many Christian denominations teach that Christians should not share in the Lord’s Supper with non-believers and/or Christians from other denominations. We do not share that understanding and here are a few reasons why:
The Apostle Paul warns the Corinthian church that participating in the Lord’s Supper in an “unworthy” manner is so serious that it may lead to sickness and even death (1 Corinthians 11:27-30). Why did Paul take the Lord’s Supper so seriously?
At Woodland Hills, we understand a “word of knowledge” (see 1 Corinthians 12:8) to be some sort of knowledge that God supernaturally impresses upon someone’s mind.
From the New Testament we know that the original practice of Communion, or the Lord’s Supper, involved sharing a full meal together—one that included bread and wine—with a relatively small number of people (Matthew 26:17-29 ; 1 Corinthians 11:17-34 ) At Woodland Hills, we would encourage followers of Jesus to regularly continue this practice in smaller contexts such as house churches, small groups, families, etc.
