If Jesus was about tearing down all of of the cultural barriers that kept people from God why didn't he come as a female? If God really wanted to challenge the patriarchal culture of his day would it have been better for Jesus to have
come as a female instead of male?
Questions surrounding the “Junia” of Romans 16:7 have been circulating for centuries in the Church. For the first 1,000 years of Church history, the vast majority of commentators agreed that this name should be translated as Junia, a woman's name.
To understand this larger passage, a good starting point is in verse 10: "For this reason a woman ought to have a symbol of authority upon her head, because of the angels."
